PROFILE

Dr. Madhuri Madhok is a veteran journalist and media academic. She started writing for the print media from her college days and covered Punjab crisis in the mid-80s while pursuing her Masters in English from University of Delhi. Dr. Madhok joined the Press Trust of India (PTI), India’s premier news agency in 1986 where she covered Rajya Sabha, various central ministries as well as assembly and general elections. 

She proved to be a keen and prolific writer and her articles and features syndicated by PTI-Features were published in all leading national and regional dailies. Her incisive news features on India’s bilateral relations with other countries fetched her media fellowship to Israel where she represented her country at the prestigious Golda Meir International Training Center, Haifa. She has also served as the editor-in-charge of the weekly news bulletin, ‘The Economic News from India’, published by PTI for the Ministry of External Affairs, during the early years of globalization and economic reforms in the country. She has also scripted docu-features for television and aired talks on All India Radio besides regularly contributing to 

India Perspectives, a magazine published by MEA. She has also been associated with the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, as Assistant Professor, Journalism and Mass Communication. She has also served as a visiting faculty in the University of Delhi and IGNOU. She has participated in various national and international conferences organized by FICCI, UNESCO, IIC and UNDP. She has been a resource person for various communication courses organized by IIMC for the officers of Indian armed forces. She has also organized workshops and seminars on media and related issues for the students of journalism and media practitioners alike. Dr. Madhok holds her Ph.D in journalism from Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Mass Communication, Bhopal, on ‘Globalization and its impact on Indian news agencies’.
