The Kannada section of ‘A Dossier on Sports Climbing in India, Status Report: Asian Games 2018’ was published yesterday in Pune.’ Conceptualised and Edited by Prof Dr Kiran Thakur, the Adjunct Faculty of Pune’s FLAME University, it is an online-only publication for the benefit of sports journalists. Prof Dr Thakur’s original dossier is in English and Marathi.
The Kannada chapter has been compiled by Prof Dr A S Balasubramanya, Senior Fellow, ICSSR, Department of Electronic Media, Bangalore University. The English and Marathi version of the dossier was published online on August 20, 2018, on the eve of the Asian Games in Jakarta.
It was conceptualised to help the sports journalists write about the game which is new to Indian scribes, sports enthusiasts and readers. The Heads of departments of journalism in Oriya and Assam have volunteered to provide similar inputs on the chapters in their respective languages, Oriya, Bengali. and Assamese.
