The Vishwakarma University has launched its ‘VU Centre of Communication for Development (VUCCD), on Independence Day, August 15, 2020.
VU Vice-President Prof. (Dr.) Wasudev Gade, launched the VUCCD, its website (http://vuccd.com), and released for publication two books, one an academic book and the other, a novel.
Prof. (Dr.) Siddharth Jabade, Vice-Chancellor, Vishwakarma University released the academic book, ‘Teaching Print Journalism’ authored by Dr Kiran Thakur, Professor Emeritus, Director, VUCCD and ‘She Called him Back’, authored by Prof Mayuresh Belsare, the Head of Department, Journalism and Mass Communication, Vishwakarma University.
Dr Gade in his speech said the University had undertaken several initiatives for the students to face the challenges of the new millennia. The new centre is an important step that would provide opportunities to the students and faculty to take up assignments in media and government and non-government agencies engaged in social research.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Siddharth Jabade, in his address, hoped that the VUCCD would be an important centre to train faculty and students to create awareness among the people about the issues of the marginalized people.
He advised them to highlight the success stories of the strugglers so that the society would be benefitted.
Dr Chetan Kapadnis, Dean, Journalism, Media and Communication, said the new centre would undertake training, study, and research in development and empowerment communication under the guidance of Dr Thakur and Adjunct Faculty Dr Radheshyam Jadhav.
Prof Vaibhav Thakare, another faculty, in his speech presented the progress of the department's book project on 25 years of internet in India.
