FTII Wins Big at FirstCut 2015 festival
162 films compete at just concluded student film festival organized by FLAME University , Pune

Pune, 18th March, 2015.
The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII)of Pune won the rolling trophy for the college with maximum score at ‘FirstCut 2015’,the All India Festival of Student Films organized by Foundation of Liberal and Management Education (FLAME). Rochak Sahu, a student filmmaker at FTII, won the first prize in the non-fiction category for his documentary on an aged street musician titled ‘Bohemian Musicians’ as well as the second prize in the nano-film category, for ‘Atithi’, a social commentary on corruption.
The first and second prize for fiction films were Vivek Sangwan (Shrishti School of Art Design and Technology, Bangalore) for ‘Tashi’, a heart-warming story of brotherhood, and Shubhankar Kundaikar (Seamedu School of Media, Pune) for Ghoda, a commentary on gun culture in India.
Aayush Agrawal, a student of Annapurna International School of Film and Media (AISFM),Telangana,claimed the first prize in the nano-film categoryof films under 3 minutes for ‘Turn it Off’, a witty take on saving electricity that has already become a Youtube sensation. The second prize for nano-film category was taken by Kritika Bhansali, a student of KC College, Mumbai, for Internal Others, a film on the discrimination faced by migrants from North East.
The just concluded festival received over 162entries from media and non-media colleges across India, of which the few best entries were shortlisted for the final round.There were highly engaging interactive sessions with jury members after the film screenings.
Said Prof Achyut Vaze, Faculty Advisor to FirstCut “With digital technolgy, we see a future where tens of thousands of young filmmakers making films all over the country, saying freely whatever they have to say.”
Added Prof Rajneesh Krishna, dean of FLAME School of Communication “Students today have immense potential but they are demoralized when there is no platform for them to showcase their talent. Firstcut 2015 gives them a platform”
The jury members at FirstCut 2015 includedMadhav Roy Kapur, Samar Nakhate, Anil Zankar. Ritu Vij, Raj Tambaku, and Prashant Pathrabe.
