New Global Media Monitoring Project gets under way

The fourth Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) 2009-2010 got under way across the world on Tuesday, 10 November 09. The Network of Women in Media, India (www.nwmindia. org) is coordinating the project in India.

Ammu Joseph tells us that 22 volunteers (including some men) from different walks of life, located in different parts of the country, are monitoring 26 newspapers in 10 languages, 13 TV channels in six languages, and six radio stations in five languages. Seven of them are professors/teachers and are involving their students in the monitoring. In addition, students in 19 colleges scattered across the country (many outside the large metropolises) are participating in the monitoring.
