|| हाक ८ | काळं/पांढरं ||

काळं/पाढरं म्हणलं की आपल्या डोळ्यासमोर नेमकं काय काय येतं? जुने सिनेमे, जुने फोटो, गतकाळातील छापील मजकूर की फ्लॅशबॅक/आठवणी? आपल्या संवेदना, जाणिवा आणि सौंदर्यविचार हे या रंगांतून कसं उमटतं? या पलीकडे, हे दोन रंग काय दर्शवितात? दोन टोकाच्या भूमिका, समज की दृष्टीकोन? त्यामुळे नैतिक-अनैतिक, चूक-बरोबर, सुष्ट-दुष्ट, सत्य-असत्य, चांगलं-वाईट या द्वंदातून आपण जगाकडे बघू लागतो का?

काळ्या-पांढऱ्याचे अर्थ संस्कृतीनुरूप कशाप्रकारे बदलत जातात? काळ्या-पांढऱ्याचे गुंतागुंतीचे अर्थ आणि संदर्भ आपण कसे मांडतो? या दोन रंगांच्या अधल्या-मधल्या छटा आपण कशा आजमावत असतो? बदलत्या काळात या काळ्या-पांढऱ्याचे अर्थ आपण नव्या पद्धतीने कसे लावू शकतो? माणसं व त्यांच्यातील नाती असोत किंवा कला, साहित्य, तत्त्वज्ञान यात या काळ्या-पांढऱ्याची आणि त्यातल्या असंख्य छटांची मांडणी कशी केलेली आढळते?

|| Call 8 | B/W ||

We perceive black and white (B/W) differently. It could be a visual experience, or a representation of memories or, for some, it could be a metaphor representing dark and light, war and peace or good and evil. Further, when two colours, black and white are kept in a continuous spectrum, they produce shades of grey and thus, changing their dual perception.

For the 8th call for हाकारा । hākārā, we are interested in simple, complex, different as well as unusual reflections on ‘B/W’.

‘B/W’ is not only a visual or physical property of the ‘colour’. It also involves the perception of ‘black and white’ through their associations, memories, histories, traditions and knowledge. Thus, B/W may speak for relationships, affinities, contrasts, polarities and so on. We believe that seeing how ‘B/W’ strikes us in sensory, aesthetic, social and cultural spheres; the dynamic forms of audio/visual, literary or scholarly expression could be explored. With ‘B/W’, हाकारा । hākārā would like to take an opportunity of exploring the properties of varied ways and languages of perceiving ‘B/W’ that is organic and internal to the world around.

If you are a space-artist, designer, writer, scholar, film-maker, visual artist, photographer, translator or curator; you are invited to send your work in English and/or Marathi in response to ‘B/W | काळं/पांढरं’, as you may perceive it.

Arun Sadhu Memorial Fellowship

Following from Prof Ujjwala Barve, 

This is the second year of Arun Sadhu Memorial Fellowship. In its first the fellowship (of Rs. 1, 50,000/-) was awarded to Meghana Dhoke, Lokmat, Nasik. She is working on the issues of NRC and the life of common Assamese people. Her study will be completed soon. She will present a gist of her study in the Arun Sadhu Memorial Lecture in September, in which the recipient of 2019 fellowship will also be announced.

दुसऱ्या अरूण साधू स्मृती पाठ्यृत्तीसंबंधीचे निवेदन सोबत जोडले आहे. ते तरूण पत्रकारांपर्यंत पोचवण्यासाठी तुमचे सहकार्य मिळावे अशी विनंती आहे.

अरूण साधू स्मृती पाठ्यवृत्ती योजना

(ग्रंथाली, अरूण साधू कुटुंबीय व मित्रमंडळ, व संज्ञापन व वृत्तपत्रविद्या विभाग, सावित्रीबाई फुले पुणे विद्यापीठ, पुणे यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने)

प्रख्यात लेखक, पत्रकार तसेच पत्रकारितेचे प्राध्यापक अरूण साधू यांच्या स्मृत्यर्थ ग्रंथाली, व श्री. साधू यांचे कुटुंबीय आणि मित्रपरिवार, तसेच संज्ञापन व वृत्तपत्रविद्या विभाग, सावित्रीबाई फुले पुणे विद्यापीठ यांनी तरूण पत्रकारांना संशोधन व सखोल वार्तांकन यांकरता प्रोत्साहन व आर्थिक साह्य मिळावे यांसाठी ही पाठ्यवृत्ती योजना आखली आहे. दरवर्षी एकूण दीड लाख रूपयांची पाठ्यवृत्ती देण्यात येईल. पहिल्या पाठ्यवृत्तीसाठी दै. लोकमत, नाशिक येथील मेघना ढोके यांची निवड करण्यात आली आहे. 'भाषिक आणि सांस्कृतिक संघर्षात अडकलेल्या आसामी जगण्याचा शोध (NRCच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर आसामच्या ऐतिहासिक घडामोडींची नोंद)' या विषयाचा सखोल अभ्यास त्या करत आहेत.  

अरूण साधू स्मृती पाठ्यवृत्ती योजना 2019-20 नियमावली

1) पाठ्यवृत्तीसाठी पात्रता

·       मराठी भाषक पत्रकार (कार्यक्षेत्र अथवा वास्तव्य महाराष्ट्राबाहेर असेल तरी चालेल)

·       3 जुलै 2019 रोजी किमान 28 वर्षे पूर्ण ते कमाल 45 वर्षे पूर्ण यांदरम्यान असावे

(म्हणजेच 4 जुलै 1973 ते 3 जुलै 1991 यांदरम्यानचा जन्म हवा)

·       कोणत्याही माध्यमात किमान तीन वर्षे पूर्ण वेळ पत्रकार म्हणून काम केलेले असावे.

अथवा 

मुक्त पत्रकार म्हणून किमान सहा वर्षे काम केलेले असावे.

·       ज्या विषयाच्या किंवा घटनेसंबंधीच्या सखोल अभ्यासाचा प्रस्ताव असेल त्याविषयी किमान तीन लेख/श्राव्य कार्यक्रम/दृकश्राव्य कार्यक्रम प्रसिद्ध झालेले असावेत,

अथवा

भिन्न विषयांसंबंधी किमान सहा लेख/श्राव्य कार्यक्रम/दृकश्राव्य कार्यक्रम प्रसिद्ध झालेले असावेत.

2)  पाठ्यवृत्तीसाठी विषय

·       पत्रकार त्यांच्या पसंतीच्या कोणत्याही विषयासंबंधी प्रस्ताव सादर करू शकतात.

·       संशोधनाची व्याप्ती किंवा विषय पुढीलप्रमाणे असावेत.

o  राज्यात अलिकडे घडलेल्या महत्त्वाच्या गंभीर घटनेचा पाठपुरावा

o  सार्वत्रिक प्रश्नाचे प्रादेशिक किंवा स्थानिक पातळीवरील स्वरूप

o  राज्यव्यापी प्रश्नाचा व्यापक स्तरावरील अभ्यास

o  सामाजिक परिवर्तनासाठी कार्यरत असणारे परंतु आजवर सर्वस्वी अपरिचित उपक्रम, संस्था किंवा व्यक्ती यांचा सखोल चिकित्सक परिचय

o  सद्यकालीन पत्रकारितेतील महत्त्वाच्या प्रश्नांचा अभ्यास इ.

3) अर्ज करण्याची प्रक्रिया

·       प्रस्ताव फक्त इमेलद्वारे head.dcj@gmail.com या पत्त्यावर पाठवावेत.

·       एकाच इमेलद्वारे खाली नमूद केलेल्या, टंकलिखित असलेल्या व पीडीएफ केलेल्या पाच स्वतंत्र फाइल्स जोडाव्यात. प्रत्येक फाइलच्या नावात अर्जदाराचे नाव व फाइलचा विषय स्पष्टपणे नमूद केलेला असावा. (उदा. अबक अल्पपिरचय.pdf, अबक जन्मदाखला.pdf, अबक प्रस्ताव.pdf इ.)

1. पत्रकाराचा अल्पपरिचय

2. जन्मतारखेचा दाखला

3. अनुभव प्रमाणपत्र किंवा त्यासंबंधीची कागदपत्रे

4. पूर्वप्रकाशित लेखांच्या स्कॅन कॉपी. श्राव्य किंवा दृकश्राव्य कार्यक्रमांचा संदर्भ द्यायचा असल्यास त्यांच्या गूगल ड्राइव्ह लिंक्स (संपूर्ण कार्यक्रम मेलने पाठवू नये)

5. प्रस्ताव (पुढीलप्रमाणे)

प्रस्ताव सहाशे ते आठशे शब्दांचा असावा.

प्रस्तावात विषयाचे शीर्षक, संबंधित विषयाची पार्श्वभूमी, पत्रकाराचा त्या किंवा तत्सम विषयांतील पूर्व अभ्यास अथवा अनुभव; तसेच, विषयाचे महत्त्व, प्रस्तावित अभ्यासपद्धत (मुलाखती, प्रत्यक्ष भेटी, निरीक्षण, दुय्यम माहितीस्रोत, आशय विश्लेषण, सर्वेक्षण इत्यादी), समयनियोजन इत्यादी तपशील द्यावा.

4) निवडप्रक्रिया

·       टप्पा 1- अर्जांची प्राथमिक छाननी (वय, अनुभव, पूर्वलेखन इत्यादी) विभागप्रमुख व विभागातील अन्य एक शिक्षक यांच्या समितीमार्फत

·       टप्पा 2- प्रस्तावांचे मूल्यमापन - विभागप्रमुख, विभागातील अन्य एक शिक्षक, विद्यापीठाच्या अन्य विभागांतील एक ज्येष्ठ प्राध्यापक, व समाजातील एक प्रतिष्ठित व्यक्ती यांच्या समितीमार्फत

·       टप्पा 3- सर्वोत्तम चार प्रस्ताव सादर करणाऱ्या पत्रकारांच्या, वरील समितीतर्फे प्रत्यक्ष मुलाखती

·       प्रस्तावित विषयाची व्याप्ती, समर्पकता, महत्त्व इत्यांदींचे मूल्यमापन करून समिती पूर्ण रकमेची एक पाठ्यवृत्ती द्यायची की अर्ध्या रकमेच्या दोन पाठ्यवृत्ती द्यायच्या ते ठरवेल.

·       सदर समितीचा निर्णय अंतिम असेल.

5) पाठ्यवृत्तीच्या रकमेचे वितरण

पाठ्यवृत्तीची रक्कम  पुढीलप्रमाणे तीन समान टप्प्यांत धनादेशाद्वारे ‘ग्रंथाली’कडून मिळेल.

1) पाठ्यवृत्तीच्या घोषणेच्या वेळी

2) सहा महिन्यांत झालेल्या कामाचा अहवाल सादर केल्यावर व समितीने तो संमत केल्यावर (अंदाजे पुढील वर्षीच्या मार्च अखेरीस)

3) अंतिम वृत्तांत सादर केल्यावर व समितीने तो संमत केल्यावर (अंदाजे पुढील वर्षीच्या ऑगस्टअखेरीस)

6) अंतिम वृत्तांत

पाठ्यवृत्तीधारकांनी मराठीतून लिहिलेला अभ्यासाचा अंतिम वृत्तांत टंकलिखित स्वरूपात सादर करावा. तो किमान आठ ते दहा हजार शब्दांचा असावा. वृत्तांताचा रूपबंध ठरवण्याचे स्वातंत्र्य पाठ्यवृत्तीधारकाला आहे, परंतु वृत्तांत वाचनीय व सर्वसामान्यांना आकलनीय असावा.

पाठ्यवृत्तीधारकाने  ‘अंतिम वृत्तांत हे पाठ्यवृत्तीधारकाचे मूळ लेखन आहे व त्यात अन्य स्रोतांतून घेतलेल्या सर्व संदर्भांचा योग्य पद्धतीने निर्देश करण्यात आला आहे’ असे प्रमाणपत्र वृत्तांतासोबत जोडणे आवश्यक आहे.

7) वृत्तांताला प्रसिद्धी

दर्जेदार अभ्यासांचा त्यातील शक्यतेनुसार ‘थिंक महाराष्ट्र’ या संकेतस्थळावरून वृत्तांतलेखाद्वारे किंवा ‘ग्रंथाली’द्वारे (पुस्तकरूपाने) प्रसिद्धीसाठी विचार करण्यात येईल. पण या संस्था, तसेच पाठ्यवृत्तीधारक यांच्यावर ते बंधनकारक नाही. पाठ्यवृत्तीधारकाने अन्य मार्गाने वृत्तांत प्रसिद्ध केल्यास अरूण साधू पाठ्यवृत्तीचा उल्लेख त्यात करावा अशी अपेक्षा आहे.

8) 2019-20 या वर्षासाठीचे वेळापत्रक

·       जून 2019 अखेर                  पाठ्यवृत्तीची घोषणा

·       18 ऑगस्ट, 2019               प्रस्ताव स्वीकारण्याची अंतिम मुदत

(प्रस्ताव फक्त इमेलद्वारे पाठवायचे आहेत.)

·       31 ऑगस्ट, 2019 पूर्वी         प्राथमिक छाननी

·       15 सप्टेंबर, 2019 पूर्वी          प्रस्तावांचे मूल्यमापन

·       25 सप्टेंबर, 2019 पूर्वी           प्रत्यक्ष मुलाखती

(संज्ञापन व वृत्तपत्रविद्या विभाग, रानडे इन्स्टिट्यूट , पुणे येथे)

(उमेदवारांनी स्वखर्चाने मुलाखतीसाठी उपस्थित राहायचे आहे.)

Why don't you buy books?

Dear Colleagues,

Have you realised that a good number of books for journalism students and teachers are being published now? These are books authored by Indians, published by Indian publishers, and are modestly priced. I have published lists of these titles in my blog from time to time hoping that the faculty may place orders for these books. Amazon, Book Ganga and other online bookshops also carry ads about the textbooks and academic books. Unless you buy, how do you expect the authors, publishers, teachers and students will benefit?

 I did a quick reality check and realised that many heads of departments have not purchased several important books although there are no budgetary constraints in private or public universities and colleges. I spoke to several full-time, confirmed assistant, associate or senior professors drawing pay-commission approved salaries. There are adjuncts, part-time, and visiting teachers who have not purchased any new books for the last several years. They did not have a list of books that could be useful to their students and colleagues.

I wish to draw your attention to some good books as follows: 

One such book is Harvesting hope in the Suicide Zone authored by  Award Winning Pune-based Journalist Dr Radheshyam Jadhav and published recently by Bloomsbury (Price Rs. 399.00) in December 2018. I inquired with a dozen journalists and journalism faculty in Pune. They have not heard about this book. I strongly recommend this to print journalism and development communication teachers and students.

I am impressed with the contents and quality of books authored by young journalist-turned-journalism faculty who have recently brought out Marathi titles. I am confident that these books will be useful to teachers and students of media schools in Maharashtra. Digital Patrakarita (by Vishwanath Anant Garud, publishers Ga Ma Bha Na Prakashan, Rs 150.oo) and Social Media (by Yogesh Borate, Atharva Publications, Rs. 150.00) are important and useful for the teachers and students in the cities and towns in Maharashtra.

I have found Prof Sanjay Ranade’s Marathi books माध्यम अभ्यासातील प्रमुख संकल्पना (Terms and Concepts in Medi, Rs. 200.00)  and   माध्यम अभ्यास व माध्यम समीक्षा (Both published by Diamond Publications, Rs. 200.00) very important for Marathi students who find it difficult to understand the theories.

Dr Hema Herlekar’s The Essential Art of Communication (Unicorn Books, Rs. 196) is another interesting book about modern communication principles with practical, down-to-earth tips’

I have refrained from recommending my own book, Newspaper English, (Vishwakarma Publications, for obvious reasons).
