Prof Virbala Agrawal informs us about the demise of Prof TDS Alok
It is very sad to share with my all friends and colleagues that my colleague and friend Prof TDS Alok is no more. He was ill for the last many months. He joined the department as a Reader in 1997. He suffered many set backs in the life. When he regained the life, luck did not favour him. It is a big set back not for me only but for the entire department and the journlism fraternity. He was very soft spoken and friendly to everyone. Let us pray that His soul rest in peace.

Professor T.D.S. Alok's sad demise has shocked the entire teaching and journalist community of Himachal Pradesh. Prof. Alok was critically ill for the last couple of months and died of renal failure today in Shimla. He was born in 1954 in a remote village of Kullu district. He started his career as primary teacher and later joined the Information and Public Relation Department of Himachal Pradesh and remained Editor of state government's weekly Giriraj. In 1996 he joined the Deptt. of Journalism and Mass Communication of H.P. University, Shimla as Reader and at present he was Professor and Chairman of Journalism and Mass Communication Deptt. He wrote a number of books on Media. He was not only an eminent scholar but a sensitive poet and above all a man of humanity. May God give rest in peace to the departed soul.
